My name is Oscar and I’m a Second Year Integrated Masters Computer Science Student at Durham University.
I enjoy Hackathons, Creative Projects and explaining technical Computer Science concepts through teaching and digital mentorship.
I was particularly inspired to pursue the User Experience industry after hearing a guest lecture as part of my Software Engineering Module.
On the 21st November 2024 I listened to Dave Crawford, the Principal Product Design Director at Microsoft Digital, give a talk about UX Design entitled “Not just a pretty inter(face)”.
He discussed his storied career journey full of creative outlets and uses of technical skills, including a bold choice to specialise with a HCI Master’s Degree after being in industry for a while. This inspired me to pursue the skills necessary for UX Design.
I also learnt a lot about User Experience (UX) and a lot of User centred design concepts, which I shall use to help me to conduct the following UX Research project: Developing an improved UX Workflow to boost Dark Sphere’s Customer Retention & Satisfaction.
Within the project I implemented all of the research and design activities recommended by Dave Crawford, including creating personas to use during design, mapping the emotional journeys of users and the creation of wireframes (one of my favourite aspects of UI Design).
